How to Turn Public Domain Information Products into a Regular Source of Income for Life

Information products in the public domain are yours to do with as you like, as long as the end result is legal, moral and ethically correct.  In a nutshell you and your public domain item should steer well clear of fraudulent or criminal activities and spam!!!

So you shouldn’t use the public domain to create illegal web sites or resell as recent research or in spam emails or scams.

Apart from that, the world’s your oyster and these are just a few of many ways to turn a profit from public domain information products:

*  Break the book into separate chapters, use each as a separate page of content on a niche subject website: chapter one on page one of the web site, chapter two on page two, and so on.   Create a site map to allow visitors to navigate your site and to help search engines understand your site and benefit your search engine rankings.  Have chapters linked at the beginning and end of each page so readers can easily move backward and forwards between chapters.  End each page mid-sentence or at a point that leaves readers dangling and keen to click through to read more.  The links and regular movement between pages help optimise your site for search engines and make visitors eventually liable to click on an AdSense or other monetizing element at your site.

*  Convert the text to ‘Word’ or other editing document.  Start chapters on separate pages, create a contents page, add an attractive cover.  Make two copies.  Leave one copy intact and converted to pdf which is the version you will eventually offer for sale.  Open the other copy and move to the end of Chapter One.  Add a few incomplete snippets from every other chapter but always leave the reader hungry for more.   Add a payment button towards the end of your shortened eBook and / or direct the reader to another page on the Internet from which to purchase the full version of your product.  This sample chapter technique, properly done, can generate curiosity and lead readers to buy your complete product. 

*  Create a membership site using the content from your public domain product.  Charge a monthly fee to access the full content and be sure to add more information at least once a month or risk losing members.
